Responses to the Questionnaire for SME, Small-Cap and Mid-Cap Businesses

The responses to that consultation appear in  Standard Essential Patents and Innovation: Summary of Responses to the Call for Views  which was updated on 5# July 2023.   On 21 March 2023, the IPO published a  questionnaire on standard essential patents ("SEPs") for SME small-cap and mid-cap businesses.  which I discussed in IPO Consults on SEP Licensing   on 24 March 2023.  The IPO received 47 responses to that questionnaire including one from me.  It published the outcome of the consultation on 5 July 2023 (see  SEPs questionnaire for SME, small-cap and mid-cap businesses: Summary of Response ).  It intends to consider the r...

Latest Joint Report from the European Patent Office and the EU Intellectual Property Office on the Contribution of IP to the European Economy

Jane Lambert It is often said that intellectual property is crucial to the efficient functioning of modern economies but there is much less research to support that assertion than might be supposed.  However, some valuable research on the topic has recently been undertaken by the  European Patent Office ("EPO")  and the  European Union Intellectual Property Office ("EUIPO") , In September 2013, those institutions published a joint report entitled  Intellectual property rights intensive industries: contribution to economic performance and employment in the European Union .  The EPO and EUIPO published an updated report in October 2016 and they have now published their third report. The report identifies 353 IP intensive industries in the EU which employ directly 63 million people and make work for another 21 million in businesses that supply those industries.  Those same industries generated output worth €6.6 trillion betwee...

Jane Lambert IALCI stands for  The international association of lawyers for the creative industries . It was founded in March 2013, during Paris fashion week to provide useful and up-to-date business and legal know-how and solutions to the creative industries.  Its main goal is to enhance the collective knowledge of the creative industries, by organising seminars, webinars and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCS), talks, google hangouts, podcasts, TV programmes about, and by publishing articles, newsletters, blogs and books on, business and legal topics of critical importance to the creative industries and entertainment sector. One of those seminars took place on Tuesday, 10 Feb 2015 on the law of luxury goods series: intellectual property – how to protect, manage and monetize the know-how and intangible capital of luxury and fashion brands .
